Curating Kindness: Introducing… The Friendly Bench™

Interested but need to get a wriggle on? Jump straight to the full article here In an earlier blog post, I took the plunge and finally unveiled what I’d been *intending* to pen about here on the blog for some time – but had apparently been too much of a cowardy, Kate-like custard to do so until recently. As outlined in that rather wordy, but oh-so earnest and (if I do say so myself) utterly awesome post (!), the topic of loneliness is one that’s dear to my heart, not least because it’s an issue that can cause considerable emotional…

High five

View this post on Instagram Wishing the happiest of birthdays to this little pudding pie in the middle, who, in the blink of an eye, turned five years old today. Ok, in a ‘blink of an eye’ is not entirely true – I seem to recall much of the sleep deprived first year (and beyond) being akin to torture – but selective memory is a fine thing (and also pretty handy, where procreation’s concerned). I mean, motherhood + #selfcare + #wellness + #loneliness + #charity stuff, all cobbled together, ain't…

Fearlessly four

View this post on Instagram Throwing it back a couple of years to our days in the hot and sticky tropics of Mexico’s Yucatán Peninsula. It was a time of big changes for this little chap: finding himself in new territory after yet another international move, he was also adapting to life in pre-school for the first time. The first few weeks were tumultuous, for sure: desperately clinging onto Mummy or Daddy at the school gate, the tears would be in full flow most days. Roll on two-and-a-half years later, though, and the excitement of seeing his little chums back…

Today is #InternationalDayofCharity, and included herewith is a mere sprinkling of some of the amazing charities who are really smashing it in their promotion of #kindness, #friendship and #community building, as well as raising the bar when it comes to tackling #loneliness amongst the #elderly (and, indeed, among people of all age groups). Here’s sending out a whoop whoop and…
